It was a beyond-gorgeous day yesterday in Chicago’s Grant Park for the official kick-off to 2010’s Lollapalooza, and we were there to catch it all and scope out some of the hottest fashions! The two headliners of the day couldn’t have been more different - pop diva du jour Lady Gaga vs. New York’s prodigal children of rock, The Strokes - and the fashions of the day certainly reflected that.  Little monsters and scuzzy rockers ran amuck while enjoying the sounds of the day provided by the likes of Wavves, The Walkmen, Dirty Projectors, Matt & Kim, Devo, Hot Chip, The Black Keys, Chromeo, and The New Pornographers, all leading up to the night’s main event: Lady Gaga or The Strokes

Given Ms. Gaga’s overwhelming appearance in all things pop culture (and the fact that we just saw her at NYC’s Madison Square Garden last month), it was a no-brainer that this crew would head to see The Strokes perform their first U.S. show in years, or as frontman Julian Casablancas put it “our first show in the states in, like, foreveeeeer.” The New Yorkers certainly didn’t disappoint as they poignantly took the stage in studded black leather jackets & shades to Queen’s “We Will Rock You” then slammed through a set largely consisting of fan favorites from their first two albums. Check out a few of our photos from the night below, and stay tuned for a full gallery of the day’s fashions along with our reports for the next two days!
