No hippie chick

Maybe it’s because I was raised by hippies, but I never quite got over Tie Dye. And luckily, right now there is no need to because between acid wash, ombre, dip dye and batik, the theme is everywhere.  Plastic Island’s mini skirt plays with a computerized dye while Nicholas K’s batik dress is traditional perfection.

More Tie Dye after the jump…

When Oscar de la Renta does tie dye it means one of two things, either he drank the kool aid, or it’s not for the misanthropes anymore. This silk dyed gown worked it’s way down Oscar’s pre-fall 2010 runway last month and onto Jessica Biel only a few days later. Conversely, American Rag’s tie dye shirt is the perfect transition piece into spring’s playful colors and patterns.

Topshop’s dip dye floral dress is more Coachella than Woodstock and Jak’s bleached out flannel manages to make the men’s staple femmey.

Burberry’s ombre trench and Proenza Schouler’s gathered dress both move the print uptown.

Victoria’s Secret’s take on the wayfarer would make Brian Wilson proud whereas Elizabeth and James’ black-on-black darkens the mood.
